How do I fix the email thread issue in Gmail?

If your request information form / contact forms are getting grouped together in Gmail, we recommend you follow these instructions below. The issue is, your website forms come from notifications@3plains.com and they get grouped together in a thread. Unfortunately, email forms cannot come from your email address (gmail/yahoo/hotmail/etc.) because modern web servers do not allow spoofing.

By default, Gmail groups a message and its replies in a conversation that’s listed as a single inbox entry. Conversation threads are the recommended way to manage your email; they provide a fast, efficient way to see multiple related messages in one view. However, if you prefer to list messages separately, you can turn the Conversation view off. You can switch back at any time.

  1. Open Gmail.
  2. Click the gear in the top right and then select Settings.
  3. Scroll down to the Conversation View section (stay in the “General” tab).
  4. Choose Conversation view on or Conversation view off.
  5. Click Save changes at the bottom of the page.

Once you have done this, you should see emails in an un-threaded view. You can switch back anytime if you prefer the conversation view to be on.

When you hit reply to a customer, you should see the "reply-to" email address of a customer show up now.
